Let’s talk bunk beds. It’s just a bunk bed right? I mean it’s not rocket science. BUT some bunk beds perform better than others, and there is a bit of science involved that decides which are best. Physics to be exact. Here’s a few things to look for in your next bunk bed:
High Weight Rating
A high weight rating means they’ll stand up to years of use, and are built for high-traffic commercial environments. Each platform is rated at 500 pounds apiece and will last you for years to come.
Seam Welded Joints
Each one of our joints are ‘seam welded’ to not allow the smallest of openings for Bed Bugs to nest. Those pesky critters don’t need much, so we go the extra mile to ensure there is nowhere to hide.
Squeak Proof Platforms
The constant squeaking of 10 bunk beds going off at once can result in the worst sleep experience ever. We get around this annoyance by using heavy mesh instead of springs. No need for a ‘box spring’, simply lay your mattress directly on the platform. On other metal bed frames the squeaks can come from the headboard and footboard having a weak connection to the platform. We secure the bed soundly to eliminate this issue.
Strong Guard Rails
The guard rails are usually the first thing to go because people put weight on them climbing up or down. Our guard rails extend all the way from headboard to footboard creating additional rigidity. We don’t mount to the platform itself, so to maximize the lifespan on all our components.
Full Height Ladders
The ladders should reach all the way to the floor (like ours do) so when people climb upon the weight is distributed to the floor, not to the bed. This also makes the ladders squeak proof.
Stronger Frames
Our tubular metal frames are stronger than less-expensive rounded ones.
