Bed bugs and broom sticks is a funny comment but having an infestation of these little pests is no laughing matter and can’t be just swept away with conventional cleaning methods pest control or yes broom sticks!

Listed below are just some of the things you can do today to prevent bed bugs from setting up home in your hostel or camp and feasting on your guests.

Take a moment to get each guest to sign that they will not unpack their luggage on the bed
Use metal bunk beds over warm wooden bunk beds, bunk beds that are bed bug resistant
Use bed bug resistant bunk beds that don’t allow insects to enter the tubular frame to nest
Use a seamless bed bug resistant mattress on every sleeping surface
Use the correct commercial mattress with water resistant covers
Have in place a regular check of bunk beds and mattresses schedule perhaps once every month
Avoid using carpets in dormitories where dormitory bunk beds are used, bed bugs love warmth!
Avoid using wood paneling on walls that look great but create perfect hiding places for bed bugs

There are many things you can do to prevent a bed bug infestation that is not limited to backpacker hostels, camps and night shelters, these little critters even get into 5 star hotels!
